EARL HURD COMEDIES After forming his own company, legendary animator Earl Hurd wrote, produced, directed and animated this series of amusing liveaction/animated shorts that debuted in theaters in August of 1922 with the premiere episode, “One Ol’ Cat,” distributed by Mastodon Cartoons. Educational Pictures released the remaining onereel shorts in the series through June of 1923. Afterward he went on to write, produce and direct another innovative series, Pen and Ink Vaudeville, bringing his outlandish drawings and editorial cartoons to the screen from 1924 through 1925.
